The Follow Through Faith

Sunday Morning Sunday

Paul expects that faithful Christians must do the kinds of things that grow us in Christian maturity. Things like prayer, reading the scriptures, small groups and accountability, worship, submission, suffering. These are the kinds of faithful practices that grow us up in Christ and build us into mature, contributors in God's mission.

A second connection we might be wise to draw from this passage is Paul's warning against competing lordships. Jesus is all that is needed for salvation and fulfillment. We live in a world where people are looking for fulfillment. From jobs, from sex, from creative endeavors, relationships, travel, drugs, wealth, and the list goes on and on. There is  a kind of lordship today yo could even call "selfism" that in being true to ourselves we find fulfillment, but the reality is that, " those who fill themselves with only themselves remain empty."

We need Jesus , the world needs Jesus, and we are only brought to fullness in Jesus.
